Happy Winter Solstice! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!
Winter has come to Ely - this is what our back yard looked like on December 2nd. The snow keeps coming. Kevin has already taken out the sled and cruised around on his snow shoes. I on the other hand have only ventured on a few walks. This week may be a good time to get my snow shoes out and take them for a test drive.
The good news is that our pipes did not freeze over the weekend. We have had a few nights of -20 and in previous years, Kevin has been down in the basement on days like these using his torch to thaw the pipes. He decided to be smarter than the pipes this year, and he re-plumbed the bathroom sink.
Life has been fairly calm in Ely. Don't get me wrong life is busy, but we have not had any cars break down, stoves starting on fire, furniture shredded by cats... Kevin and I have our routine - he goes to work, comes home and works on projects - and I still spend a lot of time on the road (even if I am no longer working in Virginia) getting to organizing clients and having fun times.
I am the primary cook - yes, I have learned to cook with the help of Rachel Ray, Jamie Oliver and the food network website. I have learned quite a bit and if you are in town (or close to town) you should stop in for dinner to sample my new skill.
