project completion

I recently realized that it looks like our house is still in progress - and it is and will always be - but we have completed a few of the projects started this past year - by "we", I really mean Kevin. Although, he does claim that I am his inspiration...

I did not realize what a back splash would do for the kitchen. It looks complete and we no longer have cutting boards propped up behind the sink preventing water from splashing on the walls and dripping under the cabinets (by the way, the chickadee you see on the counter is FULL of Holiday cookies - sugar cookies with the best frosting I have ever made and lots of beautiful sprinkles - thanks to the ladies who came up for the annual cookie baking weekend!).

One of the best parts of the bookshelves, is the new door. It is hiding in the picture, but Kevin and I finally have a bedroom door! It is a lovely pocket door with 15 panes of frosted glass. Oh yes. We can never completely close the door because the kitties bat at it and keep us up all night, but we can have some privacy.

While browsing at Ely's Blueberry Arts Festival this summer. I fell in love with a fabulous copper sun. It was the wrong size for over our door and it was the wrong price for any part of our house. But Kevin saw how much I loved it so he created a sun for me - he believes in the golden rule: do to one side of the door what you do to the other. So we have more loveliness on the bedroom side of the door.

We were about to have wasted, unusable space in the corner next to the new door. Never fear! We are getting good at using any space we find so Kevin built a very beautiful, very functional computer desk. A wonderful place to get some work done.

Your remodeling is great! Someday I pray I make back to Ely to see it in person. I don't know when that will be because I live so much further away now. I guess I can just get on I-35 and drive north. LOL It will only take 18 hours. Love You both!
