This past summer, Kevin made a window box for our backyard window - yes, we only have one that faces the backyard - out of an old cedar electric pole. It is simply lovely. My choices for flowers this summer were not so lovely, it was a learning summer. Anyway, I thought it looked sad and empty when I pulled out all of the dead flowers - so I picked up a few mini pumpkins at Zup's and grabbed some pruning shears and headed out into our yard. My first attempt at filling the window box with joy fell very flat on it's face. Kevin took one look at it and he started laughing.

Luckily for him, I love him. He tried to diplomatically tell me that the window box looked better empty. But we were way past diplomacy. It was hideous.
So I looked around the yard so more lovely greenery, nabbed a few cedar branches, made it a bit less symmetrical and sterile looking and I am much happier. Kevin did not laugh at the second attempt - at least not in front of me.
