imagination library

This morning, as we were waiting for my lovely mother, known as Nana, to come to Ely to play with us for the day, Ani and I decided to read books on her bedroom floor.  She is just starting to notice that her walls are filled with animals. I want her to make friends with them so she can tell them stories as she falls asleep.  Perhaps she will want to be with her friends ALL of the time and sleep in her own room... ya right, she will be in our bed until she is 12.

So we read Where's Spot to her zebras and showed pictures from Goodnight Gorilla to her elephants.  Both books are from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  We have 4 books so far: The Little Engine that Could; Roly, Poly Pangolin; Where's Spot; and the latest addition - Goodnight Gorilla.  Who doesn't get excited about a new book in the mail?  I get excited when a box is delivered from diapers.com and I know it is coming and what's inside.  But to randomly get a book in the mail?  I LOVE it!  It is almost like sending away for the secret decoder ring after saving 30 or so cereal boxtops and $1.95 for shipping and handling and getting your forgotten ring in 6-8 weeks.  Almost.

Anika loves getting Babybug in the mail.  She gets her complete body involved when reading that magazine - it is light enough for her to hold up and the pages do not rip easily.

Oh my! Nana and Anika went to bed and read Goodnight Gorilla and just woke up with Hello Pee Blanket and Pee on Nana's shirt and Pee on Both Their Bodies.  Too bad our kiddie pool sprang a leak last night and deflated - they could have taken a bath.  I guess wet wipes will have to do for their bodies since there is no guarantee this won't happen again today - but should the laundry going.
